FeedingNYC is a nonprofit organization near and dear to us at StructuredWeb. The organization was founded in 2001 by Robert LoCasio, a close friend and the CEO of LivePerson. FeedingNYC delivers Thanksgiving meals to families living in the New York City shelter system. Over the past 20 years,  FeedingNYC has fed nearly 90,000 families and has grown from 12 volunteers to over 7,000. And for the last ten of those years, StructuredWeb has been a proud sponsor.

Each November, the StructuredWeb team joins FeedingNYC’s network of volunteers to raise funds to buy, assemble, and deliver boxes with all the ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal—from turkey to fixins’ to families in shelters throughout the five boroughs. This year, the organization’s goal is to raise $500,000 and deliver 8,000 meals. And we’re proud to have contributed toward this goal on behalf of the company and our employees.

Most of us have probably not experienced homelessness first-hand. And many of us are making our own Thanksgiving plans with family and friends and looking forward to a warm gathering and a delicious meal. But for many in our community, Thanksgiving offers little to look forward to. In fact, 70% of the NYC shelter population are families. That’s why FeedingNYC’s work is so important and so special.

On this, the 20th anniversary of FeedingNYC, we’re inviting you to join us in contributing to the work of this vital organization — or even become a sponsoring corporation yourselves. We like to think of it as putting our money where our mouth is.

Happy anniversary FeedingNYC, and here’s to an early happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
